Not really, Tower Records wasn't working because they didn't move online with their catalogue quickly enough. The commercial real estate is getting way overpriced.

i sure hope this fixes my issues with getting itunes to recognize my iphone 4 in order to sync and add/remove music. for the past month or so, since itunes 10.2 released, and then iOS 4.3.1 came out i have been having issues getting my phone to recognize. as a work around, when i restart the "mobile device service" it instantly recognizes the phone and everything is wonderful again.
i hate that this glitch exists, and i hate that i have to plug my iphone into itunes in order to sync my contacts, how useless is that?! the iphone remains the best phone in the world, but seriously apple, y'all need some help when it comes to the most basic of things, such as wireless syncing...

Anybody getting this thing? I have heard good things and bad.
I was thinking Onlive would be great for MMOs and RTSs but not much else due to the lag.

Apple will never be able to be on top in terms of hardware. That is a fact. HTC and Motorolla are going to be leapfrogging that category now. What Apple needs to do is make sure people buy iOS devices for iOS. They have to be ahead there. For a phone that only releases hard once a year it will be IMPOSSIBLE to overtake the hardware market. But they can rule the soft ware realm of mobile devices.
Right now the only thing they have on android is the retina display. Which by next year with the QHD screens will not be that impressive and when they do come with a new hardware innovation one of the android makers will top it within a year.

What percentage of iPhone users are on Verizon (world wide)? Serious question, because I don't see how Verizon getting the iPhone 4 has anything to do with an iPhone 5 release date. I really doubt 4g will be coming with the next iPhone. Everyone seems to think Verizon and its customers have some sort of power over apple. Wasn't an issue for the rest of the world and all the carriers and customers that got iPhones mid-cycle between the 3GS and 4.

Still like my iphone 3GS and have the luxury to wait out any release as of September this year.
Don't always need the latest. If things work don't mess with it.

Not true.. I am the Art Director for a Art department that makes grocery store ads.
Soda is not a common loss leader since it's DSD Pepsi/Coke keep close price controls.
I usually see produce and meat used as loss leaders..
All food margins are bad for grocery stores...they end up making the most money off of their non-food items...which is why you often see a growing number of non-food aisles.
Another point... I expect that TJ MAXX just bought up a bunch of the Refurbished iPads and is taking a $50 loss on each to get people in the stores.

Well they did pay money for it. They are probably losing between $70-$100 on each iPad.

I seriously doubt the figure of "80 iPads total" aquired by TJ Maxx that is speculated in the article, but who knows.
I think he meant 8,000. I did the math myself. All you do is count the number of stores east of colorado or so. I estimate 50%-60% of stores got 10 iPads each...throw in some Marshalls stores...and you get between 5,000 - 10,000 iPads.
(notice how some Marshalls stores are holding off on their iPads until Black Friday...maybe they are apple users who actually figure out they have a prized possession...i can see most managers just saying..what are these ipads..lets just give them away).

All of his email responses are terse. Verbose is a bad thing if you are an executive, and frankly, people should strive for terse in business anyway.
I don't dispute that in a way, but the reply was terse to the point of being almost useless. They guy made a reasonable point not only about FCP but also about Apple openness (both in terms of road maps and blogging). Could Apple possibly move to being a tad more customer-friendly, or is that solely limited to here-and-now consumer sales (nice shiny gadgets, nice shiny stores)?
Reminds me of an anecdote that I read of Tim Cook. In a meeting of Apple managers, he explained that there was a problem in one of the Chinese assemblies houses. A few minutes later, he looked at the engineer/manager and asked "Why are you still here?".

I have the white lights for the back of my tv for ambient lighting.. but 200$ worth of LEDs is a bit much for me haha.. I have trouble justifying buying another set for my other tv.

Apple is going to (probably already has) develop its own map data. Map data is a strategic resource and is increasingly used for competitive advantage.
At the moment, there are two leaders in high quality map data, Navteq and TeleAtlas. There are some smaller players with much lower quality and/or much more limited coverage but these two have mostly locked up the market for the last 10 years or more.
Navteq is owned by Nokia. Before they were bought by Nokia, Navteq pretty freely licensed their map data (for a huge price) and owned the navigation device market. In the last few years, they have been cutting off access to any company that they see as competing with either Navteq or its parent company Nokia in areas they want to own.
TeleAtlas is owned by TomTom. They are much more open to licensing their data but with the major restriction that their data can't be used for turn by turn navigation.
Google was licensing TeleAtlas data until fall 2009. At that point, they had developed their own data set (by driving the roads) enough that they could use it in Android. A month later, Maps 2 came out with turn by turn directions because Google was no longer restricted in their map use. The quality of the maps was and still is lower than the TeleAtlas data but Google owns it.
Google, too, is using its map data for its own competitive purposes. They won't license it for general use, only for use within Google products or add-ons.
Apple needs map data and is either going to have to buy it or create it themselves. It's possible that Apple could buy TomTom. They're only a $2Billion market cap so it's quite doable. Other than that, there is no map data set that Apple can rely on having access to.
Mapping and related applications is an area that has not really progressed much. Maps on a handheld are pretty similar to the printed maps of the last 500 years. Apple could do a lot with maps and it's encouraging to see signs that they are pursuing it.

So like most people I tried to jailbreak my ipodtouch, but got it stuck on recovery mode, now I cant use my ipod touch, I dont know if I can recover it on itunes (but would rather not) so Im kind of desperate, HELP? :(

I wouldn't mind it. then again im not a parent, just 19 myself. but when my girlfriend turned 18, and i just a month before, my parents were really against my girlfriend (of 2 years at the time, i might add! so it was no slutty one night thing) sleeping in my room. though i think it was because of my sister being only 11. suppose they wanted to keep her innocent to the notion of me and my girlfriend having sex i suppose.
we sleep in the same room now but they think she sleeps on the spare bed :D

I'm looking forward to trying this out when I get home tonight. I won't pay $15 for the whole kit, but there are a couple of 99-cent packs that I wouldn't mind trying out.
I have fond memories of playing Atari 2600 with my cousins at my grandparents' house when I was little. I was late to the game buying a 2600 of my own (I got mine when NES was all the rage) but I still loved it and was very saddened when I found out my parents had sold my entire Atari kit, including dozens of games, at a garage sale for a measly $5!
I hope they continue to add games. There are a few that I enjoyed that I don't see on the list.
